In just one day, the Biden-Harris Administration already made progress on many of the crises currently devastating our nation, with executive actions restoring protections for LGLBTQI+ workers, requiring pandemic safety, protecting Dreamers, lifting the Muslim travel ban, reinstating federal DEI trainings, and more. Equally as incredible, our nation now has its first woman, Black American, and Asian American to ever hold executive office: Vice President Kamala Harris. It feels like a new day.

This week in 2016, the public heard for the first time the now-infamous Access Hollywood tape. In it, then-presidential candidate Donald Trump boasted about sexually assaulting unnamed women, with no consequences.

Many thought the horrifying recording would disqualify Donald Trump from the presidency in the court of public opinion. Surely, a person who bragged about sexual assault, who had 26 assault allegations lodged against him, who thought it was all so funny, surely this person would not be elected to office.

Women voters must acknowledge and act on these facts. …

The stage was set: October 15 marked the second anniversary of Tarana Burke’s #MeToo movement going viral on social media, providing Democratic Presidential candidates the perfect opportunity at the October 16 debate to talk about how that movement is redefining our country.

With waves of survivors coming forward to reveal their stories of sexual harassment and workplace violence, the public finally stopped asking whether sexual abuse happened and began to ask how do we make it stop?
